SUMMER BAND CAMP (update) — Camp has been excellent so far! The students are working very hard every day and handling the heat very well. The show is coming along and the music is sounding better and better. Next week’s rehearsals will be crucial as our drill designer Oliver Bullock will be in town to add some choreography and work on fine tuning parts of the show. Every rehearsal is extremely important and it is easy to get really far behind. Please avoid missing rehearsals, particularly morning rehearsals, at all costs. Lamar registration is next week and we ask that the students go very early to school registration so that they don’t miss too much rehearsal. The best time to do Lamar registration would be Thursday afternoon at 5pm.
TEXTING WITH IZIGG — The band has started a new form of communication, text broadcasting with iZigg. This program allows the directors to send important updates via text. This will mostly be used in situations where information needs to be sent quickly. Examples might be an alert as we are only 10 mins from Lamar after an away football game, or, the band made finals at a competition and will be performing at a new time. To sign up, just send a text to the number 90210 and put LHSband in the message. You will then receive occasional messages about band events. If you ever want to opt out, just send STOP in the message.
FORMS AND FEES – The band had its annual registration day on Sat. August 4th. This was an opportunity to turn in fees and forms. To perform in the Lamar band, all forms must be turned in prior to the first performance. If you were unable to attend registration day, please come by the band office at your earliest convenience to get all paperwork completed. All forms are attached to this email.
MARCH-A-THON — The band boosters have started the March-A-Thon fundraiser to raise money to support the band this fall. Students are asked to collect pledges for every hour marched/rehearsed during our first two weeks of band camp. The prize incentives for the student with the most pledges/donations are 2 Nook Tablets (eBook reader), a $50 iTunes card and 2 $25 sonic cards. The pledges and/or donations are due Aug. 23rd and checks should be made to LBBC.
PASSBOOKS — The students will be selling passbooks again this year. This continues to be a successful fundraiser for the program year after year. Students will bring home information this Friday.
BAND PHOTOS — The band will be taking individual and section photos on Monday Aug. 20th. A schedule for photo times will be sent home next week.
SCHEDULE CHANGE — Coach Fuller just informed me that the Keller Central game has changed to Saturday Sept. 15th The time and location will remain the same but the date is now Saturday instead of Friday. We currently have the HEB drumline competition that day but Mr. Bibb and I are working on a plan to make it work.
