Viking Band Weekly Announcements 3-17-13

BACK TO WORK — Welcome back from spring break. The weather was wonderful and for those that didn’t get a break, I hope you at least enjoyed the nice weather this past weekend. We come back tomorrow on an “A” day. I’ll send that in a text, as I know the students appreciate the reminder. There are many activities this week so I thought I’d send an email to get everyone prepared for the week ahead. Check the calendar below and online to see the latest additions and adjustments. I have added a few dates for this summer and next fall for those that like to make plans far in advance.

BRISKET BASH — The annual Brisket Bash fundraiser will be this Thursday, March 21st in the Lamar cafeteria. Make plans to attend and enjoy a night of music and food. There will be a silent auction with many awesome items up for grabs! The proceeds of this fundraiser go towards the annual band banquet. Tickets are available as of Monday morning.

UIL SOLO & ENSEMBLE CONTEST — Those students who certified to state contest by making a division one on class one solo that was memorized, or a division one on a class one ensemble, must decide if they would like to compete in Austin in May.

CALENDAR — Please check the band calendar on a regular basis. There are many sectionals and rehearsals scheduled. We also have concerts and other events scheduled through June. Sectionals are a part of our performance grade and are not optional. The band after school schedule is minuscule compared to the fall. https://lamarmusic.org/calendar/
