Marching Band Schedule – Rehearsals: Monday 5:30-8:30, Tuesday 3:30-6:00, Thursday 3:30-6:00. Friday is homecoming. Saturday is marching contest in Burleson.
Homecoming – This Friday is our homecoming football game at Cravens Field. Due to halftime festivities, we will be performing our halftime show before the game. Please be in the stadium by 6:50pm to be sure to see our performance.
Mansfield Contest – This past weekend was our first marching contest. I’ve never been a part of two rain/lightning delays in the same contest. Despite us getting soaked 10mins before our performance and having to take shelter for about an hour, the kids were able to put together a solid performance. We placed 3rd of the 5 bands in our class. We have a good video to study and comments from the judges to help us prepare for the next event. Thank you VERY much to ALL the parents who helped on Saturday. There were many different things to take care of and once again the amazing band parents of the Lamar band were there to get the job done. Also, a big thanks to the band parents from Martin who lent us some towels so that we could keep our percussion equipment dry. I think all the bands in Arlington got a little wet on Saturday.
Burleson Contest – This upcoming Saturday we will perform at the USBands Showcase in Burleson. This is a “prelims only” type of show. We perform at 7:30PM. We need as much parent support as possible for this event. We have lots of percussion equipment and props that must be moved around the stadium. Please contact email@example.com or Kim Wood if you can assist in any way. Itinerary attached.
Contest meals – Scheduling meals for contests is often challenging. The logistics and timing of a contest can be impossible. Sometimes we will go to a variety of restaurants and let the kids bring money to eat on their own. Typically, that is about $5-10. The booster club can feed the students much cheaper. We ask that you send $10 with your student this week to Mr. Lang. This will cover the remaining marching contests meals for the season. Our favorite meal to serve is a sandwich line with many healthy options. Of course, if you have allergies or other special diets, please Mr. Lang or Mrs. Dickey know ASAP.
Eligibility – The Texas “no pass no play” law will start to affect band students when the six weeks report cards come out. This week is the final week of this six weeks grading period. The band staff will be monitoring student grades and assigning study hall and peer tutoring. We will have study hall in the band room during lunch every day and after school on Monday and Wednesday from 3:00-4:00.
Students that end up being ineligible will continue to practice with the band every day, but will not be allowed to go to football games or marching contests with us.
Rides to Practice – The booster club and band student council are working together to help students find a ride to practices. If you have questions, contact the booster club parents at firstname.lastname@example.org

SAT test days – SAT tests conflict with our first two marching contests this fall. We encourage students to sign up for the December test date.
