Announcements 9/25/12

FRIDAY FOOTBALL — We will be doing a run through on Friday at 4:15 and then loading the buses to depart for the North Crowley football game. We should return around 11pm.

SATURDAY USBANDS CONTEST — The marching contest on Saturday 9/29 in Midlothian will be the first of our competitive season. The students have been working hard and are excited to show off their production. I always like to see a huge group of parents in the stands with their gold shirts and flags. The kids, while the will never admit it, appreciate it too. I have a bunch of pre-sale tickets in my office for anyone that would like to purchase one. They are $9 and I will have them available up until the day of the contest. If you wait and buy tickets at the gate, they will be $11. I have an itinerary attached to this email with further details outli ning the contest.

TUESDAY DEAN COREY — Our annual Dean Corey band event will happen next Tuesday, October 2nd. I encourage all parents to support the students at this event. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from this event. Details are outlined on the attached itinerary. Please contact the band office with questions.

SCHEDULE — The busy part of the season is here. It will soon seem that every day is another event in band. The band staff will do everything we can to remind students of their many obligations. If you have any questions, contact us by email first. Also, check the band calendar often as I will be updating times as I get more details. CAR WASH — The band boosters will have their first car wash fundraiser of the year on Oct. 6th. Every band student will help wash cars during a morning or afternoon shift. Students will collect pledges to help raise money for our efforts. There is a surprise prize for the student that obtains the most pledges!

VIKING BAND TUTORING — After school from 2:45 — 3:45, tables are set up in the band hall for students to do homework and get tutoring from their band peers. A list of available tutors for various subjects is posted in the band hall. We encourage all students to take advantage of this time.

CONTEST LOCATION CHANGE — The contest on Oct. 20th is now going to be at Wylie HS. It was originally at Adamson HS.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED — We have many events this fall that require parent support. To help with band events, you must be and AISD approved volunteer. The application can be found at aisd.net.
