Announcements 9-10-14

SUPPLIES – ALL band students must have the appropriate supplies as soon as possible. Most of these items are available at local music stores. We recommend Rivard Bros, Music & Arts, Brook Mays Music and Mr. E’s.

We STRONGLY encourage students to buy a metronome and tuner. Another option we highly recommend is the Tonal Energy App for iOS. It is an incredible tool for musicians.

 

FRIDAY ITINERARY – Football game number three, our first away game! Loading crew students need to arrive at 4:30 (this includes pit, battery, sousaphones, ladder crew, water crew, and PA crew). All other students need to be ready for inspection (summer uniform) at 5:00pm in the band hall, we will open the doors by 4:30pm. No CiCi’s. Itinerary attached.

 

SPRING TRIP MEETING – The spring trip information meeting will be held next Thursday 9/18 immediately following marching band practice. The meeting will take place in either the band hall or the auditorium. Information regarding trip location, price and available details will be discussed. Students must attend this meeting with a parent/guardian. If you have any questions or concerns, please email dlang@aisd.net

 

CAR WASH – The fall car wash will be on Saturday Sept. 27th. All students will wash cars. Students will also start collecting pledges next week. We will need parent chaperones for each of our 5 car wash locations. There will be a morning and afternoon shift. Please consider assisting the booster club with staffing the car wash locations.

 

BAND FEES – The $200 band activity fee is due. Students on a monthly payment plan should make the second payment this week. It is important that every student take care of fees in a timely fashion. Please contact Mr. Lang, dlang@aisd.net, if you have any questions or concerns.

 

PASSBOOKS – The passbook sale is over. Money and any unsold books must be turned in by Friday morning. If unsold passbooks are still out after Friday morning, they must be sold.

 

CHIPOTLE FUNDRAISER – Thank you to everyone who came out to Chipotle on Tuesday!

 

MARCHING SEASON TIPS –

• Hydrate – Plenty of water and sports drink all day long

• Proper Diet – Stay away from processed foods/carbonated drinks/etc.

• Be rested – Keep a regular sleeping pattern

• Be studied – Have strength academically

• “The pain of discipline now, or the pain of regret later”

VOLUNTEERS – With 171 students in the Lamar Band, it takes an army to get these kids taken care of at football games and marching contests. We needs drivers for the trucks, people to push equipment onto the field, chaperones for the bus, helpers for feeding the students meals and parents in the audience cheering on these amazing young musicians! Please let the booster club know when you will be able to assist us in the many tasks it takes to provide our students with top notch support.
