MARCH-A-THON (update) – This fundraiser ends tomorrow! Thursday evening the booster will collect all donations and pledges. The prizes will be drawn for during the ice cream social. Students are asked to collect pledges for every hour marched/rehearsed during our first two weeks of band camp. The prize incentives for the student with the most pledges/donations are 2 Nook Tablets (eBook reader), a $50 iTunes card and 2 $25 sonic cards. The pledges and/or donations are due Aug. 23rd and checks should be made to LBBC.
STUDENT SCHEDULES – Errors happen every semester. The first step is always to go to the class listed on the schedule during the school day. When an error is present, see Mr. Lang or Mrs. Burum ASAP. We can expedite the process for fixing a schedule problem if it relates to band classes. ALL band students, by default, she be double blocked in band.
VOICE OF LAMAR – Our announcers for the past few years have moved on. We need somebody who has a great announcer voice and wouldn’t mind going up to the PA booth at home and away football games to announce the Pride of Lamar during our halftime performances. If one person can’t do it every game, we can work a schedule like the dad’s did in the past. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
BAND PHOTOS — Photo day went great. A big thanks to Mr. Brawner, Mr. Ip and Mrs. McClain for all their help in the process. I encourage you to get your orders in for the photos that Mr. Ip took. He does a great job. If you want a digital copy of the section photos, contact Mr. Lang or Mr. Brawner. The photos should be on facebook soon.
FORMS AND FEES — Band forms and fees are due. Students that did not come to band registration should get this in to a director ASAP. The first football game is the first week of school and is an away game. Students will not travel with the band if they are missing forms. Students should also have paid their band fee.
SUMMER UNIFORM — For the exhibition performance and first game, we will be wearing our summer uniform. If students have not received their summer uniform, they should see a director ASAP. Once paid for, the summer uniforms will be available for pickup.
TEXTING WITH IZIGG — The band has started a new form of communication: text broadcasting with iZigg. This program allows the directors to send important updates via text. This will mostly be used in situations where information needs to be sent quickly. Examples might be an alert when we are only 10 mins from Lamar after an away football game, or the band made finals at a competition and will be performing at a new time. To sign up, just send a text to the number 90210 and put LHSband in the message. You will then receive occasional messages about band events. If you ever want to opt out, just send STOP in the message.
PASSBOOKS — Passbooks have been handed out and students are expected to sell 3 passbooks at $30 per book. This is a big fundraiser for the program and we hope it continues to be successful. We encourage students to sell as many passbooks as possible.
