Announcements 8/2/12

STUDENTS – Make sure that you come to rehearsal prepared on Monday. It is very important that you all have a large water jug (32oz minimum) with you for rehearsal. It is also imperative that you wear sunscreen and bring extra so you can reapply it during the days rehearsal. Finally, we will have lunch from 12 – 1 at Lamar. Bring something for lunch! Don’t forget to eat breakfast. We will see all of you at 8am sharp Monday morning!

SCHEDULE CHANGE — Coach Fuller just informed me that the Keller Central game has changed to Saturday Sept. 15th The time and location will remain the same but the date is now Saturday instead of Friday. We currently have the HEB drumline competition that day but Mr. Bibb and I are working on a plan to make it work.

BAND REGISTRATION DAY (update 2) – The band will have its annual registration day on Sat. August 4th. This is the opportunity to turn in fees and forms. It is important for students to have a parent/guardian with them to get all forms signed and turned in. To perform in the Lamar band, all forms must be turned in prior to the first performance. We will start registration at 9am with Seniors, 10:30am Juniors, 1pm Sophomores and 2:30 Freshmen. If the freshmen uniform checkout process takes too long on Saturday, we will make sure the students get fitted for a uniform as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend registration day, please come by the band office at your earliest convenience to get all paperwork completed. All forms are attached to this email.

SUMMER BAND CAMP – The summer has been great and I’ve heard from many students who have been practicing and attending music camps. I very excited about the upcoming marching season. We have a great show prepared by our new music arranger Vince Oliver and the drill is well underway by our drill writer Oliver Bullock who will be flying out during camp for a full week of instruction! The staff is gearing up and we look forward to a very busy few weeks of preparation. Students, be sure to practice your “box drill scales” before the first day of rehearsal!
The rehearsals will start on Monday August 6th and run 8am – 5pm. We will have a lunch break at noon and we expect ALL students to bring a sack lunch to be eaten on campus. The complete rehearsal schedule is online at the google band calendar.

BAND WEBSITE – Check out the new and improved band website! Same address, The Woods’, our booster club webmasters, are almost done with the improvements. It is looking really great!

CONDITIONING WEEK – The student leadership is going to lead the 2nd annual conditioning week. From 5 pm-7 pm, July 30, 31 and August 1 & 2, all band members are invited to come and play sports at Craven’s Field. Sports will include football, ultimate frisbee, soccer and capture the flag! It’s going to be a fun way to play outside and get used to the beautiful Texas weather! Drop off and pick up will be in front of Cravens field, remember to bring sunscreen and a jug for water.

MARCHING BAND SHOW (update) – The entire show is now on charms for you to download. You can download and print your part as well as the audio files. Please practice your part so band camp can be successful.
