PICNIC IN THE PARK – I don’t know where to begin. Thank you to everyone! So many people played so many critical roles in this event this past Saturday. I was happy to see so many families out supporting the bands. Mr. Hagman was impressed and enjoyed seeing the students from Nichols, Shackelford and Lamar performing, playing and dunking teachers! Since this was our first attempt at an event like this, we welcome feedback on what you liked and any ideas to make it even better next year. END OF YEAR PROCESS – We have a million things to do over the next week. Students need to perform their scales for a director for auditions on Wed/Thurs and start practicing graduation music. Seniors must play their scales Mon/Tues and turn in all equipment, tuxes/dresses and complete all fees/fines by Thursday. All band students will turn in tuxes and dresses to Mr. Carlton and the quartermaster team by Thursday. Please wash dresses and return on the band’s hanger. Tuxedos should be dry cleaned and returned in the plastic. All AISD instruments must be checked in for inventory purposes. We will check out summer instruments very quickly.
SOLO FESTIVAL – Congratulations to the 51 students from Nichols and Shack that earned division 1 ratings on their solos this past weekend! The high school students ranked as follows, Adam Dickey 3rd, Hestler Hernandez 2nd and Chaz Osborn 1st.
FEES – It is important that all fees are fully paid. Final fines & fees list go to the front office in a couple weeks. Senior fees are past due. All band & guard fees must be paid by May 31st. You can now pay online with a credit card. Be aware, there is a service fee for doing it this way. https://arlington.revtrak.net/
GRADUATION BAND – We will pass out music in class Monday and Tuesday this week. All non-seniors of Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band will perform at graduation on June 4th at 8pm. More details to come.
JAZZ BAND – Jazz auditions this Friday. See Carlton for details.
PERCUSSION – See Bibb regarding battery and front ensemble rehearsal schedule June 1-3
COLOR GUARD – Color guard camp is June 6-10 at Lamar.
LEADERSHIP – Leadership camp deposits and applications are due May 31st.
MARCHING BAND – The marching band season starts June 1st! We will be hosting a fundamentals camp from 8:00am-noon June 1-3 at Lamar / Cravens. ALL 2016-2017 students will participate. Yes, that means the new freshmen and ALL upperclassmen. A summer calendar will be sent out soon.
