Announcements 5-9-13

BANQUET — The annual band & orchestra banquet is May 11th 7:00pm at the AISD Professional Development Center. It will be catered by Macaroni Grill. Parents are welcome to attend as we will give out scholarships and various distinguished awards.

VOTE FOR COUNCIL AND HOMECOMING — Students have been instructed to vote online for the band council election and homecoming queen nomination. The attachment to this email will give them further instructions. The password is a little tricky. Some students will need to enter the month and date without the zero in front of it. If the students have trouble, a director can help them on Friday. Council elections end at 3:00pm on Friday. Homecoming queen ballots will be tallied next week.

LEADERSHIP AUDITIONS — The student’s leadership candidates will audition Friday afternoon for the various field leadership positions available for the Pride of Lamar, the Viking Marching Band. The students have been working hard since January on the different aspects of being a leader. All students are fantastic role models for the band and we are proud of each and every one of them. Results will be posted for this and band council positions by noon on Saturday. Results will be available on Charms.

JAZZ BANDS — The annual spring jazz concert will be next Tuesday at 7:00pm. Both jazz 1 and 2 will be performing. We strongly encourage everyone to attend this concert. The students have been working hard in class all semester.

TEXT PROGRAM — If you turned off the text system while we were gone, you can restart it by texting “LHS Band” to 90210. This is the busiest time of year so many reminders will be sent via text.
