Announcements 5-14-14

SPRING BANQUET – Thank you to all the parents who helped make this year’s banquet one to remember! Also, a big thanks to Maggie Borton for putting together the fantastic slideshows. Thanks to Mr. Breedlove and Mr. Brawner for taking photos. Many of the photos are available on the website

LEADERSHIP – Congratulations to the new leaders. The leadership team is posted in Charms.

BAND AUDITIONS – Band placements for the fall will be based on the audition at the end of the semester. Freshman winds – Thursday, May 29th 4:30PM to 6:00PM Upperclassman winds – Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27-28th during class, Percussion students have already auditioned with Mr. Bibb. WIND AUDITION MATERIAL – 12 major scales and full range chromatic scale, a prepared etude or solo of the students choosing limited to 60 seconds, sight-reading excerpt.

SUMMER BAND – There are many band activities scheduled during the summer. Students are expected to attend all activities. Failure to do so will affect the students standing in the marching band next fall. For students in summer school or on previously planned family vacations, a note from a parent/ guardian will excuse that student so that they remain in good standing. However, when students miss rehearsals, it is often very difficult to catch up, particularly when we are learning drill to the competition show in August. The summer schedule is attached.

END OF SEMESTER PERFORMANCES – The final performances of the year are quickly approaching.

May 20 – Full Orchestra

May 21 – Shack Band

May 22 – Lamar Band
