Jazz Band – Congrats to the both jazz bands on a very busy Friday and Saturday. Both groups had excellent performance at their respective festivals. Jazz 2 competed as a varsity group at the Coyote jazz festival and placed 5 out of 10. Great job J2!
At the Tarleton State Jazz Festival, the jazz combo earned the “outstanding overall combo” award and Chris Lopez-Perez won the “outstanding trombone player” award! Jazz 1 earned the “Best Overall 6A band” and “Overall Band”. Congratulations on this incredible achievement!
Winterguard – Congrats Lamar High School JV Winterguard “Blue” on your performance this past Saturday at the NTCA Championship at Marcus HS! Lamar had a fantastic run of “Down to the Wire”. The final performance earned them a Division 1 rating. Their score of 77.3 beat Arlington HS Varsity, Juan Seguin Varsity and Sam Houston Varsity.
Sectionals – We have made some changes to sectionals for the remainder of the UIL preparation season. These are all very important rehearsals as we continue to strive for exemplary performances from all three concert bands. Parents must email or call with any conflicts that may arise.
Spring Trip – Mandatory student/parent meeting on March 28th at 7:00pm. Payments for March were due on the 17th. The last payment is April 3rd, but early payments are always appreciated! All students need to have a signed “Permission to Travel” form for this specific trip. Forms available in the band office.
UIL – The UIL itineraries will be out later this week. We are very close to the big day(s). To achieve our goals of division one ratings, every student must work hard to continue to develop consistency. Let’s push harder than ever to our achieve a great accomplishment!
Parents, please help us by making sure every student has a dress / tux that is tailored if necessary. They should also be pressed before April 10th. If a student is missing a bow tie, please let Mr. Carlton know ASAP!
Save the Date – June 17th we will bring back the Lamar band mattress sale fundraiser! A few years back we did our first mattress sale with great success. It’s time once again to set up a mattress store in the band room. DON’T BUY A MATTRESS UNTIL JUNE! See the attached flyer.
