SCHOLARSHIPS — The LBBC scholarship forms are now available. These are for seniors going to college next fall. Information is on the band web site, www.lamarmusic.org. Download and print the forms. They must be received by Mr. Lang no later than midnight April 22, 2013. If you have any questions, please contact Jane Call at 817-692-5764, or Steve Brawner at 817-996-7495
BRISKET BASH — A big thank you to everyone who came out to support the Brisket Bash! Thank you to the booster club, Zak Lewis and the band council for all their hard work putting it together.
SPRING TRIP — We need one more male chaperone! We had a parent drop due to an unforeseen schedule conflict. If you know a band dad who could help us, please contact Mr. Lang ASAP!
TRY THE INSTRUMENT NIGHT — A big thanks to all the students who helped out with this very important event. Many 5th grade students showed up to try out the instruments. The future looks very bright thanks to your help!
TEXT PROGRAM — With all the events coming up this spring, including the trip, more and more info will be sent via the text system. If you haven’t already signed up for 90210, please do so. Just send a text to 90210 and type “lamar band” in the message. You will then be signed up to receive occasional texts from the band directors.
BYOT — The district has started a “Bring Your Own Technology” to school policy. Students that turn in a signed form will get a sticker to attach to their ID allowing them to use their technology at appropriate times. The band staff encourages all band students with smart phones to download a metronome and tuner app. We STRONGLY encourage the “Tonal Energy” app. This is an amazing innovation that band directors across the state have adopted. See it here… http://tonalenergy.com/
UIL — The concert bands are working extremely hard in preparation for UIL events. Our first performance is pre-UIL on April 4th in the Lamar auditorium. Concert band performs at 3:45, Symphonic at 4:05 and Wind Symphony at 4:30. We hope to have a large audience for this performance. The students will be in formal attire and we have hired 4 professional music educators / composers to judge us. The director of fine arts for AISD will also be in attendance. On April 16th and 17th, the concert bands will perform at region 5 UIL at the new, state of the art Mansfield ISD Center for the Performing Arts. The detailed itineraries are on the band calendar. Just click on the event for a map and specific times for each band.
CALENDAR — Please check the band calendar on a regular basis. There are many sectionals and rehearsals scheduled. We also have concerts and other events scheduled throughout June. Sectionals are a part of our performance grade and are not optional. The band after school schedule is minuscule compared to the fall. https://lamarmusic.org/
