GAME NIGHT – This Tuesday Feb 2nd from 6:00-8:00 we will hold our annual game night with the junior high band students. All high school band students are invited. We need some students to bring video games, consoles, TVs or board games. This is a fun social event for all band students 8th grade through 12th. There will be an 8th grade parent meeting at 7:30pm. The directors would like to welcome any high school parents to attend to assist in answering questions from incoming parents.
SPRING TRIP – The final trip payment is due Monday Feb. 1st. All students should have a zero balance this week. We have a mandatory trip meeting Wednesday at 2:45pm. All students going on the trip must attend to sign up for hotel rooms. Each student will have three roommates. If students have a preference on who the room with, they need to get in line as a group on Wednesday to sign up. If a student is absent, they will need to sign a piece of paper to give to their friend to sign them up in that room. The directors also need exact information for the airlines. We will need to confirm the spelling of each students FULL name, birth date and other details.
WINTERGUARD – This weekend the varsity winterguard will compete at the WGI regional event in Birdville at Thomas Coliseum. Lamar will perform in prelims at 2:33pm. We hope to have a lot of fans, family and friends in the audience!
SECTIONALS & AFTER SCHOOL PRACTICES – Wind Symphony will have a clarinet sectional Wednesday 3:15-4:00. Symphonic band sectionals are Tuesday, all woodwinds 3:00-4:00 and all brass 4:00-5:00.
CHALLENGES – The directors encourage the students to challenge for chair rankings to help push each other to achieve more as musicians. Therefore, the challenge forms will be available Monday-Wednesday. On Wednesday the directors will take up the forms and assign challenge music which will be distributed in class on Friday. The challenges will occur the following Monday during class.
