Announcements 12/5/12

CHRISTKINDL — The brass and woodwind ensemble classes will be performing this Friday at the Christkindl Market by the ballpark in Arlington. All eligible students have been working in small groups to put together trios, quartets and quintets of holiday music. The Lamar band students will perform from 11:00am to 12:30pm. After their performance they will be able to walk around the market and eat lunch. Ms. Olsen, the LHS German teacher, tells me that it is a little pricey and they use tickets like the state fair. Tickets are a dollar a piece and the kids should be able to find food for around 10-15 tickets. They will have brats, giant Reuben sandwiches and German pizza to name a few. The Christkindl market is a German Christmas festival.

SPRING TRIP — The band is planning a trip to South Padre Island, TX in April to compete in the Texas Music Festival. The deadline for trip deposits has passed, but we will accept deposits for a little bit longer. We have over 70 students signed up for the trip already and we would like to get closer to 90 if possible, as that would fill up the two charter buses. See Mr. Lang for details and a trip contract.

TMEA ALL-REGION — The Lamar band has 43 upperclassmen and 14 freshmen entered for all-region auditions. The fees for both city and region are due at this time. The all-city fee is $10 and the all-region fee is $15.

TMEA ALL-REGION PHASE 2 – The date is December 15th and we will be using the entire high school for this event. We will need a very large number of parent volunteers to serve as room monitors and help with the concession stand. The LBBC will send out more details as we get closer. The event is an important audition for these students and 57 of our own students will be in the TMEA all-region audition process! We need parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters to help run this event. We will need 11 adult room monitors in the morning and 10 in the afternoon. If you can help please contact Tamara Sandoval at

BAND HOODIES — We still have plenty of LHS Band hoodies for sale. These make great Christmas gifts. If you would like to surprise somebody, contact the LBBC or Mr. Lang to order one as a surprise. They are $25 and checks are made to the LBBC.
