WINTERGUARD CONTEST – Thank you! I don’t think I can express how much I appreciate all the people who helped run the winterguard contest yesterday. Thank you parents. Thank you students. The Lamar band program had a great day. Many compliments from band directors, guard directors and parents from other schools. NTCA was very impressed. We don’t have a final number yet, but this should be one of the biggest fundraisers we’ve had in a long time. Thanks to Mr. Messemore for coordinating everything. It was a long day and many parents/students worked from 7:00am to 11:00pm! Get some rest, you deserve it!

WINTERGUARD – The Lamar winterguards competed in our contest yesterday. I hope you had the pleasure of watching their debut competition. Our first ever junior varsity winterguard, “blue”, earned a 4th place ranking, and bumped up a class to Regional A! The varsity winterguard took 1st place and were bumped up to National A classification! This is the highest class Lamar has ever competed in! The Lamar color guard program is very strong and we have the eye of the other guards in our region. This is due to the extremely dedicated, hard working students and the talented directors Malan Messemore and Caleb Hunter. The band program and Lamar HS are very proud of you!

SECTIONALS & AFTER SCHOOL PRACTICES – No wind symphony or symphonic band sectionals this week! Full orchestra winds, check the WS remind for our sectional this Wednesday.

ALL CITY BAND CLINIC AND CONCERT – The students that made the all city band will have rehearsals and a concert this Saturday at Bowie HS. Students have the details and we will discuss in class this week.

UIL SOLO & ENSEMBLE – The UIL Region level solo & ensemble contest will be held Feb. 27th at Arlington HS. All students in the wind symphony are required to perform a solo or an ensemble. Students who earn a Div. 1 or 2 will qualify for the Lamar solo festival May 21st.
