JR HIGH NIGHT – Last Friday night was our annual 8th grade night. The jr high band students from Nichols and Shackelford were amazing and had a great time performing with the high school students. The directors were all proud of their performance and the evening was inspirational! “Everything Is Awesome” is still stuck in my head!
USBANDS DENTON – The band staff is very proud of the performance this past Saturday. The students performed with confidence and had the best performance of “Bent” to date! Personally, I am very proud of the the students behavior and the Pride that they carried with them throughout the day. They were prompt and on time for everything we asked them to do…even when we couldn’t find a bus driver for a long period of time.
We didn’t place as high as we would have liked and ended up missing the cut for finals. We did receive good critique in the form of audio tapes and written comments from the judges. It is important to point out that the color guard placed 5th of the 11 bands in our class and 10th of the 21 guards in prelims and the drumline placed 5th in our class and 7th of all 21 drumlines in prelims.
We will have a shot next weekend to compete again in Burleson. One of the bands in our class only beat us by 0.2 points and we will see them again next weekend. Let’s get excited and have a great week of GAINS!
DEAN COREY MARCHING SPECTACULAR – This Tuesday is the annual Dean P Corey Marching Spectacular. All high school and jr high bands will be at UTA stadium for an exciting night of music. The Lamar Band will perform at 7:56pm. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to support the private lesson scholarships for the Arlington Music Enrichment Program. Students will need to be dropped off in the east parking lot off of Davis. If students are driving themselves they must park in the lots along Davis. UTA police ask that no cars park next to the band trailers. It is important that all students are picked up at approx. 9:00pm in the south parking lot.
SPRING TRIP – The spring trip deposit and contracts are due Oct. 14th at 2:45pm. If you have any questions regarding the spring trip, email firstname.lastname@example.org
