Announcements 10/31/12

SPRING TRIP — Last night we had the first meeting regarding the spring trip. If you could not make the meeting, please contact a director for a trip contract and general information. Contracts and the deposit are due Nov. 16th

FRIDAY FOOTBALL — The call time for the game is 4:45. Please be sure to eat dinner before coming to the band hall. Because of the long distance bus ride and the fact that we have a 7:30am call time on Saturday, the band will leave the game after halftime.

SATURDAY — The band will compete in its final marching contest of the season this Saturday at 11am in Duncanville. The attached itinerary has all of the details. I will send a text over the 90210 network when the announcement of finals bands is made. If we make finals, we will continue with the itinerary as planned. If we don’t make finals, we wi ll return to LHS.

LETTER JACKETS — We are collecting letter jacket orders for Sportswear World (located on Davis). They are offering a 10% discount if we place one bulk order of band letter jackets. If you are interested in this special offer, orders must be made by Nov. 1st. All checks should be made to Sportswear World. The LHS directors are only the middle man. The order forms are available in the band hall and the price for a knit collar is $114.70 and the Byron collar is $124.42. Those prices include tax and shipping. If you would like to try one on, feel free to swing by the store so you know what size to order. These jackets are the only jackets that are allowed to be worn over the marching band uniform at the games.

NEXT THRUSDAY — The final regular season football game will be next Thursday at 7:00pm. This is senior night and we will recognize senior band students and parents on the field at halftime.

ALL CITY / REGION — The all city and all region auditions are around the corner. The students will receive a form tomorrow to fill out with information regarding the audition process. They have been working on the music all semester on B days. I encourage all students to consider auditioning for at least all city. Wind symphony students are expected to audition for both city and region.

VETERANS DAY — The wind symphony students will perform next Friday morning at 9:30 for the LHS Veterans Day Program. The ceremony is open to the public and I highly encourage families to attend the event.

FULL ORCHESTRA — Students selected for the Lamar Symphony Orchestra have been given a contract with performance dates and general guidelines for rehearsal. Rehearsals started this morning. Concert dates are also listed on the form. Contact Mr. Lang or Mr. Leaverton with questions / conflicts.
