Senior Night – This Thursday we celebrate our seniors at halftime. Parents are invited to join their child on the field for a special presentation. Seniors must fill out the script form before Wednesday. https://goo.gl/forms/
Spring Trip – This spring, the band & orchestra will be traveling to Nashville! This Wednesday Nov 2 at 7:00pm, we will meet in the LHS auditorium. Students and parents should attend if interested in the spring trip.
Volunteer Opportunity – The Shackelford band is hosting All-Region Phase 2 auditions for JH here at Lamar on Nov. 12th. They need about 30 total volunteers. They have some volunteers already from the Shack parents. They need more parents and students to help run the contest. The contest will run approximately from 7:00am to 2:00pm. Many of the volunteers will be done by noon. Please email Matt Nagel at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help.
Marching Band Schedule – This is the last week of regular marching band rehearsals for the season. The following weeks will depend on football playoffs. Rehearsals this week: Monday nothing 3:30-5:30 (ending early for Halloween), Tuesday 3:30-5:30 (changed due to jr high football on Cravens), Wednesday no practice (trip meeting @7), Thursday football vs Martin @ Cravens, and Friday 3:30-6:00.
UIL – I am very proud of the Lamar band and their performance on Saturday. The students had a very good performance at Area contest. It was fun and educational to see all the other bands perform as well. It’s great to be competing at this level again here at Lamar. We didn’t place as high as we had hoped, but it doesn’t change a thing about how a I feel about this special marching band season. I would also like to thank the Lamar principals, Mr. Hagman, Mr. Davis, Ms. Willis, and Ms. Haynes for coming out to support the band. Marching Season – This Saturday is our final competition this season. We will perform in Prelims at 2:45pm in Midlothian. This is the USBands Remo Finale Series Championship. Tickets available at the gate or from Mr. Lang this week until Saturday morning.
Contest meals – Scheduling meals for contests is often challenging. The logistics and timing of a contest can be impossible. Sometimes we will go to a variety of restaurants and let the kids bring money to eat on their own. Typically, that is about $5-10. The booster club can feed the students much cheaper. We ask that you send $10 with your student this week to Mr. Lang. This will cover the remaining marching contests meals for the season. Our favorite meal to serve is a sandwich line with many healthy options. Of course, if you have allergies or other special diets, please Mr. Lang or Mrs. Dickey know ASAP.
Jazz Band – On Nov. 9th, eat at Chipotle on North Collins. They will contribute for any sale made all day, 11:00 am till 10:00 pm. Make plans to eat lunch and maybe dinner too!
Fundraisers – Don’t forget that we are in the middle of our catalog fundraiser! Your child should have catalogs for Yankee Candle and Fredericksburg Farms. There are a few more in the band hall if needed.
Yankee Candle items can also be ordered online. You can search items, order and pay, and your items will be shipped directly to you immediately (shipping costs will apply). Anytime people order online, even after Nov. 4, the band will benefit if they use our group number.

The orders and money need to be turned in by Friday, November 4. Both of the fundraisers have envelopes for the order forms and money. Please fill out all forms completely and legibly and make sure the money received is correct.
ALL CHECKS FOR BOTH CATALOGS NEED TO BE MADE TO THE LAMAR BAND BOOSTER CLUB OR LBBC. We will pay for all items once the money and orders are submitted.
All orders must be turned in on time otherwise they cannot be placed and filled. We want to make sure we get our shipment back with plenty of time for Christmas.

Program Ads – Show your band member how proud you are of them by publishing an ad in the annual concert program! These are handed out at each winter and spring band and orchestra concerts. We can also advertise your business or any business that you patronize. The deadline has passed so program ads need to be submitted as soon as possible.
