Announcements 10/16/16

Marching Band Schedule – Rehearsals this week: Monday 5:30-8:30, Tuesday UIL (Itinerary attached), Wednesday 3:30-5:30, Thursday 3:30-6:00, and Friday football game.

Band Car Wash – Great job yesterday! We brought in over $1800! This will help the LBBC in get through marching season. It takes a lot of money to transport equipment, maintain equipment, fix props and generally get us to the finish line. Thanks to everyone! A big thanks to Mrs. Kinman for organizing another great car wash!


UIL – Our fall UIL music evaluation is going to take place on Oct. 18th. This is a weeknight event, much like Dean Corey. We perform at 7:00pm at Vernon Newsom Stadium in Mansfield on Oct. 18th.

At UIL Region, bands that earn a division 1 rating will advance to UIL Area contest. We are looking forward to advancing to Area this year which takes place Oct 29th. We would like the strongest support of the season at these UIL events. Please do what you can to come out and enjoy these performances.


Band Tailgate – This Friday we are hosting our first ever tailgate before the home game. From 4:00pm-7:00pm, eat dinner and mingle all while supporting the LBBC. (Flyer attached with the UIL itinerary.)


New Uniforms – We are very excited to be wearing our new uniforms. We have already worn them 4 times and they are getting dirty/smelly. We will wear them this Tuesday and this Friday. I would like to wash them next weekend. This is going to take a bunch of parents taking them home and washing them. We have very specific instructions from the uniform company on how to machine wash these uniforms as they are made with a new kind of polyester. The LBBC is going to purchase detergent and the band staff and directors will organize the uniforms into groups. Please consider helping us by picking up uniforms and washing them over the weekend. We will have more details regarding uniforms cleaning very soon.


Marching Season – We are in our final 3 weeks of competitive marching season. Our final contests being UIL Region, UIL Area, and USBands REMO Series Finale in Midlothian.


Contest meals – Scheduling meals for contests is often challenging. The logistics and timing of a contest can be impossible. Sometimes we will go to a variety of restaurants and let the kids bring money to eat on their own. Typically, that is about $5-10. The booster club can feed the students much cheaper. We ask that you send $10 with your student this week to Mr. Lang. This will cover the remaining marching contests meals for the season. Our favorite meal to serve is a sandwich line with many healthy options. Of course, if you have allergies or other special diets, please Mr. Lang or Mrs. Dickey know ASAP.
