BURLESON CONTEST – Great job on Saturday! The performance was excellent and the students were great representatives of Lamar HS all day/evening. The band placed 3rd in our class and jumped from a 77.0 last week to a 83.15! Congrats to the Lamar color guard on winning the caption award for best color guard in group 4 open! They also achieved the highest score of the day beating all guards in every classification! Mr. Breedlove took this video on Saturday. Remember that all videos of our show are for educational purposes only and will never be distributed or sold. Password govikes
MARCHING SEASON – While marching season is very intense, it is only about a quarter of our school year. We are over the hump of the season after our incredibly busy last couple of weeks. Next week we have the most crucial rehearsals as we are only about a week away from UIL. After UIL, we only have about a week and a half until our final competition of the season. We will continue to push the show and the students to achieve at even higher levels as we push towards the end. Let’s continue to work hard and enjoy these final few weeks of “BENT”!
ELIGIBILITY – There are often questions about eligibility after the end of the 1st six weeks. Approximately 87% of the Lamar band is passing and eligible. That is much better than last marching season. The students who are currently failing a class are now ineligible until they earn passing grades in all classes on their next progress report, otherwise they remain ineligible. Students who are ineligible are still required to attend marching band practices. However, we will allow them to go to a teacher for tutoring or do homework in the school library during practice, but only if they notify a director ahead of time.
LBBC AND VOLUNTEERS – THANK YOU! Thank you to all the parents who have been volunteering so much of their time to help support the band students here at Lamar. We truly could not do it without your dedicated support.
SENIOR PHOTO – The annual senior band & orchestra photo will be taken this Wednesday after school. Students will need to wear their formal concert attire. Dresses and tuxes have been distributed to most students already.
UIL AND AT&T STADIUM – I will send itineraries for the upcoming football games and UIL as soon as I receive details. I am awaiting info from AISD central offices for bus times and rules & regulations. I have rough times available on the band calendar.
SPRING TRIP – The spring trip deposit and contracts are due Oct. 14th at 2:45pm. If you have any questions regarding the spring trip, email email@example.com
FOOTBALL THIS WEEK – We will travel by bus to UTA stadium to perform at the football game versus Arlington HS.
EASY WAYS TO HELP – The booster club has initiated a few very easy ways to help support the band financially without spending any extra money!
