Announcements 9/6/15

STATEMENTS – The band fees have been updated to each student’s Charms account. The statements will be emailed out after this email. All students need to take care of the $200 band fee which is due at the beginning of the school year. Payments can be made with check, money order or cash and delivered to Mr. Lang. Credit cards can be taken by the bookkeeper in the LHS main office. New band members also have various other items that must be purchased such as the “triangle” shirt (a moisture wicking material) worn under the full uniform, “Viper” marching band shoes, black gloves for the full uniform and the summer uniform polo & cap. If you see anything on the statement that is confusing or possibly an error, please email me at dlang@aisd.net The statement lists all payments and billing in the misc. ledger.

CAR WASH – The booster club is preparing for our fall car wash. The band car wash will take place on Sept. 19th. We will have 4 or 5 car wash sites which will run simultaneously. The confirmed sites are Calloway’s Nursery, Bahama Bucks and Kwik Kar. ALL BAND STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE. We will also need a large number of parents to chaperone each car wash site. More details coming very soon.

ARLINGTON DAY OF GIVING – Thursday Sept. 17th is Arlington Day of Giving. The band will be performing at Levitt Pavilion between 11:30 and 1:30. We would like to have a few chaperones ride the bus with us. Let the booster club know if you can help. lamarbandboosterclub@gmail.com

UNIFORMS – We have many marching band uniforms in need of hemming and repairs. If you have any skill with a needle and thread or sewing machine, let the booster club know. lamarbandboosterclub@gmail.com

All students should have been fit for the marching uniform, summer uniform, “Viper” marching shoes and our t-shirts & gloves. Orders have been made for these items and should be in within a couple of weeks.

PHOTOS POSTED – Mr. Ip has posted the picture day photos on his website. He sent me the following steps to view and order these photos online. They look great! If you missed picture day on Monday August 17th, students will have an opportunity to take their photo in their marching band uniform with Mr. Ip on a make up day.  This day will be announced when it is set. Another option is to contact Mr. Ip and set up a time to go to his studio.

The deadline for turning in an order is SEPT. 24, 2015.  Hard copies of the order forms are available in the band room.  Orders received after the due date will need to add a $10.00 late fee to the total.  Payment can be paid by checks when they turn in their orders to school, or they can use PayPal to pay it online.  Mr. Ip ask me to mention you cannot order just the sectional pictures, or order an 8×10. MARCHING BAND CALENDAR – This week we have an unusual practice schedule Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 4:00pm to 6:30pm, due to Monday being the Labor Day Holiday. We have study hall with peer tutoring every day from 2:45-3:45. I have attached a marching band calendar to this email. Practices are listed on the calendar at www.lamarmusic.org/calendar

SAT & ACT TEST DATES – Please avoid the SAT test on Oct 3rd and the ACT test on Oct 24th. These conflict with marching band performances. There are SAT dates on Nov. 7th and Dec. 5th that will not be a band conflict.

ATTENDANCE AND TRANSPORTATION – Attendance to all marching band rehearsals and performances is 100% mandatory. This is the performance grade for the first & second six weeks of school. Work is not an excused absence. Transportation problems should be worked out in advance. Any students carpooling must have parent permission and if riding with another student/parent, please provide gas money.
